The 18-year-old defender was named among the substitutes for Wednesday's 1-0 away win against Forest to reach the last eight.
Although unused, Ogunneye's inclusion on the bench highlights United's renewed commitment to promoting talent from within.
He joined fellow starlets Toby Collyer, Kobbie Mainoo, Omari Forson, Willy Kambwala and Amad Diallo in a youthful matchday squad.
Mainoo and Diallo were introduced as second-half substitutes as United left it late to see off Forest, with Casemiro heading an 89th minute winner.
Ogunneye will now be hoping to follow in Mainoo's footsteps by earning first-team minutes under manager Erik ten Hag in the coming weeks.
The composed right-back has impressed for United's Under-21s and is rated as one of the club's most promising prospects.
London-born defender came through Under-18s in 2021/22 before earning valuable game time and experience in the Premier League 2; the EFL Trophy, UEFA Youth League and the FA Youth Cup.
He has become a trusted right-back this term for the club’s academy and also represented England at Under-17s level but remains eligible for the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
With Ten Hag focused on rebuilding around youth, Ogunneye and his fellow starlets represent the future at Old Trafford.
