Despite missing the entertaining bout, Kayiwa's teammates Derrick Ngoobi and Isaac Wagoina were on target to induce KCCA to their third successive league defeat.

Express FC skipper Allan Kayiwa was a no-show at the party as his side picked a huge 2-1 win over historical rivals KCCA FC at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo on Sunday.

The prolific attacker, who led the scoring charts in the Uganda Premier League last season with 13 goals, was a surprise exclusion from the team, especially for the magnitude of the encounter.

And, multiple reports have indicated that Kayiwa had jetted out to Ethiopia ahead of a proposed move to a yet-to-be-confirmed club.

The former Vipers winger was reportedly in Ethiopia for trials and secure a deal over the weekend.

Efforts by Pulse Sports to reach the player to ascertain the reports were futile, as his known contacts were phone off by press time.

Meanwhile, Kayiwa only recently signed a one-year contract extension with Express till the end of the campaign.

His new contract came only moments before Express played their first season game against Mbarara City FC, which eventually ended in a barren stalemate.

Months back, Kayiwa had been the subject of speculation linking him to various teams in Rwanda, a return to Vipers, and a close switch to NEC FC.

Then, it was reported that the move to NEC only failed because of failure to amicably reach leveled grounds on the terms of the contract.

Should he seal a move to Ethiopia, it would make it the first time that the versatile and talented Kayiwa goes professional.

It's also still unclear whether he will make Express' team in their next game on October 21, against Soltilo Bright Stars FC at the Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku.
