In addition to winning huge with Yanga, including two Tanzanian Premier League titles and making the CAF Confederation Cup final, the star is a popular name in the country.
Young Africans SC midfielder Khalid Aucho has enjoyed a hugely successful two years in Tanzania since making the move from Egyptian side El Makkasa.
In addition to winning huge with Yanga, including two Tanzanian Premier League titles and making the CAF Confederation Cup final, the star is a popular name in the country.
Dubbed 'Dakitari wa mupiira' (Doctor of football) by the Tanzanians, Aucho feels a huge chunk of love from the Yanga faithful.
In fact, the Uganda Cranes deputy skipper feels the appreciation and affection he gets abroad beats what he receives back in his native.
"The truth is, I feel more loved in Tanzania than in Uganda," Aucho told Pulse Sports Uganda as he received his 2022 256 Footballer of the Year award on Monday.
"In Tanzania, when people love you they openly show it to you which is very different from Uganda," he added.
"Here (Uganda), even when people love you, you can't know because they don't show it, they will find you and won't care who you are."
"I rarely walk on the streets in Tanzania because once you do, people will flood you for selfies and autographs," in his characteristic honesty and humility, Aucho added.
Games in Tanzania come with such crowds so rare in the Sub-Saharan part of Africa particularly, in Uganda.
"In Tanzania people have a strong love for football and their players which why they support the clubs in big numbers."
"They rarely abuse their players, it's always about appreciation and love than hate which is a bit different in Uganda."
Aucho is expected to trade in Tanzania for more years and his stock in the country and at Yanga particularly, is expected to grow in bigger leaps.
