Former Gor Mahia striker Benson Omala has missed national team call-up for crucial AFCON qualifier double-header tie against Cameroon.
Former Gor Mahia striker Benson Omala is poised to miss Kenya's crucial double-header Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier fixture against Cameroon.
Omala, currently playing for Lebanese side Al-Safa FC may not feature for Harambee Stars for a while after the club lodged a complaint against the player.
The complaint submitted to Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) by Al- Safa is in regards to Omala's conduct when on international duty.
“The club is upset because the last time Omala left Lebanon, he departed seven days earlier than the required period. Additionally, after completing his national duty, he returned late,” a member of the Harambee Stars technical bench told Mozzart Sport.

Former Gor Mahia CEO Omondi Aduda has backed Harambee Stars captain Michael Olunga to continue his hot scoring streak against Manchester United shot stopper Andre Onana when Kenya takes on Cameroon in crucial AFCON qualifier.
“It’s a serious issue. The club has even questioned why Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has not sanctioned the player for his behavior. At the moment, he is not in our plans for the foreseeable future.”
Al-Safa has since declined to release the player for call-up on international duty and as such Omala will miss double-header fixture against the Indomitable Lions.
Omala could also miss future call-ups if issues with the club is not resolved, leaving the players future with Harambee Stars hanging in the balance.
