MUBS won the Uganda Beach Soccer League in 2013 and 2017 but has now gone under.

Uganda Beach Soccer Association recently confirmed that Makerere University Business School is out of the national league after failing to honour games.

This brings to the end an era of one of the best teams in the league for over a decade.

The 2013 and 2017 champions were booted out after struggling to honour games in the first round.

“The committee demoted the teams because they failed to meet the minimum sporting requirements by failing to honour three games,” UBSA competitions committee’s chairman Bernard Mukasa confirmed to Pulse Sports.

Financial instability

“We’ve had some issues with the financial flows and the tight schedules didn’t help that,” Kato revealed.

This season’s championship has been low-key, with several teams failing to honour games consistently.

UBSA announced that the league will climax next weekend, meaning that the teams will play a maximum of 16 games, four less than the original plans.

Defending champions St. Lawrence, Mutoola and Jinja Lions have already booked their place into the playoffs as Buganda Royal and Kiringete battle for the remaining slot on Sunday.

The playoffs will kick off on Sunday 18, June at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru
