Deco explains why Barcelona signed Olmo over Nico Williams
In an interview with Barca One, Deco stated, "A high-level winger was needed. We have Raphinha, Ferran, the return of Ansu who was very good in pre-season but had a foot injury.
"We have Lamine Yamal... We have players who can play as wingers like Fermín or Dani Olmo."
Deco also emphasised the need for a top-quality player, saying,
"We were clear that to bring in a player, he had to be of a very high level, in the end, signing Dani Olmo gave you more options.
It's not that we haven't spoken with clubs and players, but in the end, we had priorities that were decisive in not bringing in another winger."
This decision may have surprised some fans, who had eagerly anticipated Williams' arrival at the Camp Nou but Hansi Flick's men have started the season on fire winning all three games, and Olmo has played a big role.
