Ndidi was born on December 16, 1996, in Lagos, Nigeria and grew up in the barracks as his father was a serving Army officer before his retirement.

He had a humble beginning and has spoken in the past about how his parents objected to his footballing ambitions in the earlier years zs he told Leicester Mercury.

The defensive midfielder started playing football as a youngster in his day at Command Children's School.

Ndid started his career with Nigerian academy, Nath Boys where he excelled and caught the eye of foreign clubs before eventually joining Belgian KRC Genk.

Genk paid a €180,000 transfer fee to Nath Boys on January 14, 2015, to sign the then-18-year-old Ndidi on a two-and-half-year deal.

After two years and 83 games for Genk, Ndidi was on the move again, this time joining Premier League club Leicester City who paid £17 million to sign him on December 6, 2016.

He signed a five-and-half-year contract with the Foxes which was due to expire in the summer of 2022 but he started drawing interest from big clubs which led to Leicester offering him another lengthy extension.
