The highly anticipated clash between Nottingham Forest and Ipswich Town burst into life after the interval, with Chris Wood's penalty strike proving the decisive factor in a hard-fought 1-0 victory for the hosts.

The City Ground faithful were treated to a frenetic opening half, with both sides creating gilt-edged opportunities. Morgan Gibbs-White's early header whizzed narrowly wide before Ryan Yates' thunderous drive was blocked on the line by Sammie Szmodics.

The first-half ended scoreless. Two minutes into the second half, Szmodics' faint contact with Jota Silva in the box led to Wood stepping up to slot home the penalty, drawing him level with Bryan Roy as Forest's top Premier League scorer.

The hosts' confidence surged following the breakthrough, and they had multiple chances to double their lead, but Ipswich’s shot-stopper was having an excellent outing.

As the clock ticked down, Ipswich's desperation grew, but Forest held firm, buoyed by the vocal support of their fans. Nuno Espírito Santo's side surged into the top six.
