Nigerian tennis player Wuraola Fatima from Kwara state has aced not just the court, but also the recently released University Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results, scoring an impressive 351.

The 18-year-old aspiring computer scientist couldn't contain her excitement when sharing the news with Nigeria Tennis Live.

Wuraola achieved this feat while focusing most of her energy on another exam.

This is a significant opportunity for the Nigerian Tennis team following their return to Group III alongside Ghana after competing in Group IV in Kigali, Rwanda, in 2023.

“I’m very happy about the result. It was a a big surprise because the exam was not one that I really prepared for. I am focused on my A-level at the moment.

“I just wrote it as a second plan, just in case, God forbid, if the A-level doesn’t work out. I’m grateful to God for giving me this result because I am very proud of it,” the one-time Sapati International School, Ilorin, Kwara State told Nigeria Tennis Live.

“I was home schooled for most part of my Senior Secondary school years. After the Covid break in 2020, I was in SS1, so, I was home schooled for the remaining years.

“I wrote JAMB, gained admission, but I couldn’t go because I had other plans. Then I took a GAP year before returning to write JAMB again.

“The last secondary school I attended was Sapati International School, Ilorin and I wrote WAEC with Government Day Secondary School, Oko Erin, Ilorin.

It was gathered that the teenager who played ITF tournaments in Ghana and Nigeria before leaving the juniors also got a partial scholarship to study and play tennis at the Dominican University, New York in 2023 but could not go due to funding.
