Vitor Roque's agent has criticised Xavi Hernandez and Barcelona's treatment of his young client, threatening to request a transfer this summer
Barcelona starlet Vitor Roque's agent, Andre Cury, has criticised the club's coach, Xavi Hernandez, for his treatment of the Brazilian youngster, raising concerns about the player's future at the club and exposing the tension brewing between the recent arrival and the Blaugrana manager.
Uncertainty Surrounding Vitor Roque's Future
Vitor Roque's future at Barcelona has become increasingly uncertain, with the teenage striker reportedly considering a request to be sold this summer. Despite a promising start at the club in 2024, Roque has fallen out of favour in recent weeks, experiencing a breakdown in communication with coach Xavi Hernandez.
Speaking about the speculation surrounding Roque's future, his agent dismissed the idea of a loan, emphasising Roque's desire to play for Barcelona or leave permanently, telling RAC1 in a recent interview, “We chose Barcelona because he wanted to play for Barcelona. I’m certain Vitor is going to be a great player, but if Barca won’t play him, we have to look at finding a solution.

“The best thing is for Vitor to stay at Barcelona but if we can’t find a solution for him to play, we will work to go somewhere else,” Andre Cury explained.
“I’ve already spoken with Deco. The loan option is totally discarded, Cury continued, “If Barça does not give Vitor a chance, we will have to talk to the club to find a solution… Sending him out on loan may harm him. His career could be in great danger if he is loaned out. If Vitor leaves, it will only be on a permanent transfer. He will not leave on loan.”
Agent criticizes Xavi's treatment of Vitor Roque
Cury voiced his discontent with Xavi's handling of Vitor Roque, expressing frustration over the lack of communication between the coach and the player. He highlighted the inconsistency in Roque's game time, citing instances where the player was initially featured prominently but subsequently sidelined without explanation.

"It's not logical to sign a Brazilian international, bring him here and start playing him from the first day - then another game and then no more… Then he scores two goals and then... disappeared," remarked Cury. He continued, "Xavi does not even talk to the boy. No one understands why Xavi doesn’t play him and doesn’t even speak to Vitor, it’s not right."
Cury called upon Xavi to demonstrate confidence in Roque and afford him more playing time to nurture his potential, urging the coach to recognize the youngster's significance to the club's future.
