Tanzanian giants Young Africans SC lightened up their chances of making the CAF Confederation Cup final, after a comfortable 2-0 win over Marumo Gallants of South Africa.

Stephanie Aziz Ki and Bernard Morrison netted in the second half at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium on Wednesday, as they put a step into the final.

Uganda Cranes deputy skipper Khalid Aucho played 90 minutes and impressed, attracting a relatively good 7.2 Whoscored.com rating.

Meanwhile, compatriot Ismail Watenga, who trades for the opposite side, only made the bench with Zimbabwe's Washington Arubi the preferred starter.

On the evening in a packed Benjamin Mkapa Stadium, despite dominion from Yanga in the first in terms of chances created, the guests held on as they held tight at the back.

Yanga forward Fiston Mayele, was denied by Arubi superbly in the 33rd minute, to leave matters leveled.

The start to the second half wasn't any different, and it didn't take too long before Aziz Ki slotted past Arubi after a pass from Tuisila Kisinda in the 64th minute.

At the death, Mayele, who put in a Man-of-the-Match perfomance, was the provider as Morrison netted the second, that could also prove pivotal in the tie.

Yanga will now look to seal the deal on May 17 when the two tussle it out in the second leg at the Thohoyandou Stadium in South Africa.

In the other semi-final encounter, Cote D'Ivoire side ASEC Mimosas takes on Algeria's USM Alger.
