Erik ten Hag: Man U coach and INEOS favourite under pressure following Tottenham defeat
The match on Sunday was a sensational disaster for Manchester United, as Tottenham comfortably secured a 3-0 win at Old Trafford, adding more pressure on Ten Hag.
Spurs started aggressively, with Brennan Johnson scoring early after just three minutes.
The hosts suffered a first half blow after Red Devils captain, Bruno Fernandes, was then sent off in the 42nd minute, leaving his team with a mountain to climb.
Tottenham capitalized on their weakened midfield, as Dejan Kulusevski doubled their lead early in the second half, before Dominic Solanke sealed the victory for Spurs.
The result leaves Manchester United with three losses in their first six league matches, placing them in a precarious 11th position.
Ten Hag continues to sweat over his future with the Premier League giants despite re-affirming the board’s confidence in his leadership.
The 54-year-old Dutchman would be looking to bounce back from a disappointing weekend when they face Portuguese giants FC Porto in the Europa League on Thursday, October 3.
