Mikel Obi: Nigerians say Babayaro, Drogba and Mourinho deserve credit for Chelsea's growth in Africa
According to Nigerian football fans Drogba, Mourinho and Babayaro deserve credit for Chelsea's growth in Africa, not Super Eagles legend Mikel Obi.
Mourinho's condition
According to a report by Calciomercato, Mourinho wants a clause included in the Fenerbahce contract that will allow him leave for free should the opportunity to coach Portugal ever arise while he is on the job.
Fenerbahce will be Mourinho's 10th club in his 24-year career as a manager, but he has never managed a national team—and the prospect of coaching his home country is appealing to him.
Mourinho has previously been offered the role, as he revealed that he turned down the proposal to coach Selecao twice. Both times, he was constrained by other responsibilities, as coach of Real Madrid the first time and AS Roma the second time.
“My feeling with Portugal is I had the door open twice ‘Please come and the place is yours,’” he told Fabrizio Romano.
“Once was when I was in Real Madrid and the objective was to be the Portuguese coach part-time and when I realised the president, Florentino [Perez] told me it's not possible. Easy to accept, the second time, ‘Do I regret not taking it?’ because a few months later I was sacked in Rome. I don't regret.
“I don't regret because the reason why I didn't accept, I'm happy with the reason, so I don't regret to coach a national team tomorrow is an objective, if you ask me tomorrow I am not sure I was going to be happy.
“f you tell me before the World Cup, before the Euros, before the Copa America before the African Cup I would say yes. But two years waiting for that to work, I don't know. Maybe one day I'll accept.
