Former Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has criticised Erik ten Hag's management style after he failed to get the best out of the club's big-money signing.

Ex-Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has publicly criticised Erik ten Hag's handling of Jadon Sancho, suggesting that the Manchester United manager should have shown the player more support.

Sancho's time at United was forgettable, with no big performances and very little return on the huge £80 million investment made by the club.

The ex-Manchester City winger made 3 appearances last season before a public fall-out with Ten Hag led to the 24-year-old being sent on loan to Borussia Dortmund.

"The manager has to be the one behind the player, especially when the whole world is against him.

”If the whole world loses trust and faith in the player, then the manager has to be the one behind the player.

"I cannot just buy into the player being useless, by the way and I can't understand buying a player for  £80m then sending him out on loan.”

Klopp's comments come after Sancho's fractured relationship with Ten Hag ultimately led to his departure from United

. The player's social media outburst against the manager and subsequent ban from training and matches was the beginning of the end.

Klopp's remarks imply that Ten Hag's failure to manage Sancho's struggles led to a breakdown in their relationship, ultimately resulting in the player's loan move to Chelsea.
