Hosted by Thomas Mlambo and Thomas Kweniate on Thursday night, Said was asked about how Young Africans have performed well this season both in the league and on the continent, something he credited to hard work.

‘If you have earned your stripes, you wear them on your chest,’ they say, and that’s exactly what Young Africans president Hersi Said did while appearing on Soccer Africa, an African sports magazine show on Supersport TV.

Hosted by Thomas Mlambo and Thomas Kweniate on Thursday night, Said was asked about how Young Africans have performed well this season both in the league and on the continent, something he credited to hard work.

“It’s been an interesting journey for us; we beat big teams to reach the final, TP Mazembe, Rivers United and Marumo Gallants, so we deserve to be in the final,” Said noted.

“We shall fly high in Dar-es-Salaam, and when we go to Algeria for the return leg, we shall finish it off and lift the trophy on their turf; it is going to be the biggest game in our club’s history,” Said added.

Young Africans saw off Marumo Gallants 4-1 on aggregate after a 2-0 home win in the first leg and a 2-1 away win in the return leg; they will now face Algeria’s USM Algiers.

Young Africans will host the first leg on 28th May at the Benjamin Mkapa stadium in Dar-es-Salaam.

Khalid Aucho’s side is also chasing a domestic double; they are in the Azam Sports Federation Cup semi-finals and face Singida Big Stars FC on Sunday.

Hersi Said was voted Young Africans president in 2021; he previously chaired the signing committee, which was responsible for signing top players for the club when it struggled financially.
