Zaniolo joins Galatasaray after spending three-and-a-half seasons with Roma.
Roma have announced that they have completed the sale of Nicolo Zaniolo to Galatasaray. He would join the Turkish club on a permanent deal.
The 23-year-old joined Roma in the summer of 2018 from Inter, and after three-and-a-half seasons, he has left the club to join Turkish side Galatasaray.
Zaniolo joins Galatasaray
Roma announced via their official channels that they have sold Nicolo Zaniolo to Galatasaray. The player joins the Turkish club on a four-and-a-half-year deal.
The fee was undisclosed, but transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano reports it to be around €20 million with a release clause of €35 million.
The move comes after Zaniolo's relationship with Roma broke down. Zaniolo pushed for a move in the January transfer window, and Bournemouth met Roma's valuation; however, the player turned them down.
Zaniolo can complete his transfer to Galatasaray because the Turkish Super Lig is one of the European leagues that still have a transfer window open. The transfer window in Turkey closes on February 8th.
Zaniolo for Roma
Zaniolo joined Roma as one of the brightest talents in Italian football, promising a bright future.
However, injuries and other factors have meant the player has failed to meet expectations.
Zaniola only managed to play 128 games for Roma in his time there, missing 93 games due to injury, according to Transfermarkt.
