Following a dreadful first round of the season where Express FC gathered only 17 points from 14 games, head coach James Odoch resorted to the January transfer market for reinforcement ahead of the second round.
Amongst the many recruitments that were made at Wankulukukuku is Boban Zirintusa, who expects the Red Eagles to improve their performance.
"We are a bit far from where we are supposed to be," Zirintusa opened up during his first interview with the club media on Wednesday.
"This is a great club desired by almost every player, and therefore the results must reflect I am looking forward to making my time here count and trying to get things right."
Zirintusa noted: "It is in the mind of every player that we are supposed to improve; at least, that is a challenge we are taking care of together as a team."
He signed as a free agent on a short-term contract until the end of the season, but he is not ruling out joining the seven-time StarTimes Uganda Premier League champions permanently.
"I have a six months contract, but no one can tell the future this early. Maybe I will stay even longer because I like this club and wish to contribute to its achievements, "Zirintusa stated.
The midfielder came on as a second-half substitute to mark his debut during Express' one-all draw with UPDF FC at Wankulukuku on Saturday.
He has rich experience, having previously played for local clubs Vipers SC, SC Villa, Busoga United FC, and foreign sides Simba SC (Tanzania) and Polokwane City (South Africa).
Dynamos and Highfield, from Zimbabwe, Buildcon (Zambia), Mohan Bagan (India), and Ethiopia Buuna were his other homes.
The 2021 CECAFA champions are now placed ninth on the 15-team log with 18 points, and their next game is in the Uganda Cup Round 32 against FUFA Big League side Lugazi FC.
Goalkeeper Ronald Mutebi, Frank Ssenyondo (second stint), Ismail Kawawulo, Jamal Alimansi, and Martin Opolot are the other players Express acquired.
Hassan Mubiru, Frouk Katongole, Yusuf Ssozi, Hamim Ssemakula, Benjamin Gakumba, and Kada Bitakazibwa are the players who left Wankulukuku.
