AC Milan's Zlatan Ibrahimovic is on course to join Serie A club Monza, putting an end to his second spell with the Rossoneri
AC Milan forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic is reportedly set to leave the Rossoneri for Serie A minnows Monza when his current contract expires at the end of the season.
Ibrahimovic set to leave Milan
Ibrahimovic has been a faithful servant of Milan since his return to the club in 2020, but recent injuries have seen him become a peripheral part of the team.
The giant Swede suffered an ACL injury at the tail end of the 2021/22 season and has barely featured in the new season after spending almost a year out injured.
He has played only four Serie A games in the 2022/23 season, starting only once and scoring only one goal.
With Milan seeing emerging stars like Rafael Leao taking charge of the team, there seems to be no future at the club for Ibrahimovic who turns 42 years old in October, leaving the Rossoneri contemplating Ibrahimovic’s future.
Ibrahimovic wanted by old boss in Monza
With Ibrahimovic set to exit Milan in the summer, he has attracted interest from Monza and reports out of Italy suggest that talks have gone as far as a verbal agreement between both parties.
Ibrahimovic will be made to feel at home at Monza which is currently owned by former Milan executive Silvio Berlusconi who is friends with the 41-year-old forward.
Monza is also on the outskirts of Milan, meaning he will not need to travel too far should he choose to join them.
