AC Milan's Zlatan Ibrahimovic is unlikely to continue at the club beyond this summer
Zlatan Ibrahimovic is set to end his romance with Serie A club AC Milan as both sides struggle to come to terms with a new deal for the big Swede, whose contract runs out in the summer of 2023.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic out of contract in the summer
Ibrahimovic, who turns 42 years old this year, has suffered a series of injuries in the last few years with Milan, including a ruptured ACL that kept him out for almost a year as well as a thigh muscle problem that currently has him sidelined from action.
Ibrahimovic has only played four times for Milan this season, scoring once from the penalty spot, but had hoped to continue at the Rossoneri for at least another year, something that Milan’s directors Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara have doubts about.

AC Milan's Zlatan Ibrahimovic could be set for another spell on the sidelines
Although Ibrahimovic is revered in the red half of Milan, a new deal for him is looking unlikely due to his recent struggles with injury and the player’s own future intentions, which include the prospect of becoming a manager soon.
Ibrahimovic to leave as a club icon
Zlatan and Milan will meet at the end of the season to discuss the player’s subsequent moves and if he will continue as a Milan player, but at the moment, it looks unlikely that he will be offered a new deal.
Zlatan has scored 37 goals in 78 games during his second stint with Milan, which has now lasted four seasons, and the Sweden international was also part of the team that helped the Rossoneri to the Scudetto in the 2021/22 season after also being pivotal to their most recent Serie A title before that in the 2010/11 season.
