Over the weekend the Entebbe Golf Club witnessed the successful start of the I&M Bank Katogo Golf Series 2024, setting a new participation record with over 230 golfers.
The series, renowned for its innovative and challenging formats, introduced the 'In regulation' format this year, testing golfers' skills to the fullest.
Peace Kabasweka shone as the overall winner in the Ladies category with a score of 78 c/b
Perez Muhwezi clinching the title in the men's category after a tiebreaker at 71 points.
Darius Mugisha and Lino Anguzu also claimed victories in the longest drive and nearest to the pin categories, respectively.
Addressing guests, I&M Bank CEO, Robin Bairstow reiterated the institution's commitment towards growing the game of golf in Uganda.
“I am proud to announce that today we teed off bigger and better," Bairstow said before adding.
"Together with our amazing partners, we are sinking in a total of four hundred and ninety million into the I&M Bank Katogo Series 2024.
"I believe this will go a long way to cement the foundation we set for the series last year, and as well add towards the growth of golf in Uganda,” stated Robin.
The evening celebration was highlighted by DJ Alisha's vibrant performance, marking her as the first female DJ to entertain at the Entebbe Golf Club, keeping attendees engaged until the early hours.
I&M Bank, alongside sponsors like Johnnie Walker and Rwanda Air, GA Insurance, Victoria Motors, Fenon, Serena Hotels, and Goldman Furniture pledged a substantial investment towards the series, emphasizing their commitment to fostering golf in Uganda.
The series now takes a brief pause, anticipating an even more thrilling second round on June 29.
