Lookman's dashing appearance at the Ballon d'Or is a top contender for the best dressed footballer at the 2024 Ballon d'Or awards.
Super Eagles star Ademola Lookman turned heads and stole the spotlight at the 2024 Ballon d'Or awards on Monday night, not only for his historic top-15 finish but for his standout style.
The Atalanta forward became the only African player on this year’s prestigious 30-man shortlist, finishing in an impressive 14th place.
Lookman wowed fans on the red carpet at Paris’ Théâtre du Châtelet, donning a sleek royal belted tuxedo that had admirers buzzing on social media.
Unlike several other football stars in attendance, Lookman’s appearance was the most daring with some other footballers opting for a safe look.
Posing alongside his parents and agent, the 26-year-old radiated confidence, making his mark as both a fashion icon and a top player in African football.
Lookman’s club, Atalanta, wasted no time in celebrating his achievement, posting on their social media:
“14th place for Mola: proud of you Ade.”
This accolade highlighted Lookman's breakthrough year, powered by standout performances on both the club and international stages, including his game-changing hat-trick in the Europa League final against Bayer Leverkusen.
It’s no wonder the Super Eagles star is now being touted as a favourite for the CAF African Footballer of the Year award.
Lookman joins elite list of Ballon d’Or nominees
For the record, Ademola Lookman is the first Atalanta player to be nominated for the Ballon d'Or.
Notably, Lookman ranked higher than Chelsea’s Cole Palmer and Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka, cementing his status among Europe’s elite talents.
His top-15 Ballon d’Or ranking places him in an elite circle of Nigerian greats.
Although the Super Eagles star didn’t surpass Victor Osimhen’s 8th-place finish from 2023, the 2-year-old joins a legacy including legendary players like Finidi George, Sunday Oliseh, and Nwankwo Kanu.
With the 2024 CAF African Footballer of the Year awards on the horizon, Lookman is already a strong contender for the title, adding another feather to his cap.
