The footballer is survived by his fiancee and child who broke down in her tribute to him.
The fiancée of former Premier League footballer George Baldock has spoken out in a deeply emotional tribute following his untimely death.
Baldock, 31, was reportedly found at the bottom of his swimming pool in Athens on Wednesday evening, with authorities confirming his cause of death as drowning.
The Greece international, who most recently played for Panathinaikos after leaving Sheffield United in the summer, leaves behind his young son Brody and fiancée Annabel Dignam.
Annabel shared a heartbreaking message on her private Instagram account just hours after his passing was confirmed.
She posted a photo of the couple together, writing:
"George, the love of my life, my soulmate. The perfect dad to our beautiful boy. You completed me. You were my world and I know we were yours. You are here with me in Brody's smile, giggle, and infectious personality. My world will never be the same but I will find a way for Brody. I promise."
Baldock was last called up for Greece in their Euro 2024 play-off defeat to Georgia.
There was a period of silence before Thursday night’s Nations League match between England and Greece at Wembley, which the visitors won 2-1, with Baldock’s picture shown on the big screens.
Players of both sides also wore black armbands and the Greece team held up his shirt after they scored their opening goal in the shock Wembley win.
