Rose May Alaba began her musical education early, as her parents enrolled her in piano lessons at the age of eight after they discovered her interest and talent in music when she was 6 years old.

 She later learned to play the guitar by herself after studying tutorials on YouTube.

In 2011 she became a member of the girl group BFF, which was put together in the casting show Popstars - Mission Austria, although the band broke up in 2013.

4. She is determined to learn her father’s native language, Yoruba

Although Rose May is an Austrian singer, she has always wanted to connect to her father’s Nigerian roots.

Rose May Alaba only began connecting with her Nigerian heritage in 2017, during a visit to Nigeria.

That same year, she took an interest in the Afrobeats genre, which inspired the production of another single My Love (Sabi O).

The song which fused Afrobeat and Pop influences was produced by Adrian Louis and Sovida Beatz and it also enjoyed massive airplay on Nigerian radio stations.

Later on, Rose May collaborated with Nigerian Afropop star Mayorkun on the song 50/50, which went on to top the Nigerian iTunes Charts.

The song currently has more than half a million views on YouTube.

Recently, Rose May Alaba confessed during the promotion of her latest single, Ibadi (Your Waist) that she wished she could speak Yoruba, her father’s native language.

According to her, she was not able to learn Yoruba because her parents always communicated with them in English.

“It breaks my heart that I can’t speak Yoruba because I really wish I can" she said.

I grew up in Austria, and my parents communicated in English, so that was how I was able to speak English. I learned how to speak German in school.

Growing up in Austria, I was exposed to the cultures of my country of birth while also interacting with the Yoruba cultures of my father and the Filipino cultures of my mother.

“The result is a cultural hybrid that combines with my parent’s musical backgrounds to make me an artist whose music carries intercontinental markers.” Rose May Alaba revealed in an interview with TurnTable.

As of May 2023, the Ibadi crooner has over 108,000 followers on her official Instagram page, where she mostly posts about her music.

Real Madrid star David Alaba is currently dating Halimar Heppner, the daughter of renowned chef Frank Heppner, who is famous for his expertise in Euro-Asian cuisine.

Alaba and his girlfriend welcomed their first child back in 2019, although, the name or any further information about the boy is not known as the couple have kept his identity secret.
