Adesanya on Volkanovski against Makhachev
Adesanya trains with Volkanovski and is confident his sparring partner will defeat Makhachev.
The fight between significant Volkanovski and Makhachev has significant pound-for-pound ramifications as they are ranked first and second respectively.
Despite the pressure of fighting in front of a packed crowd of home support, Adesanya is confident that Volkanovski can get it done against Makhachev.
He explained that Volkanovski thrives under pressure despite his small stature and that Makhachev will struggle in the latter rounds.
Speaking to Mac Life Adesanya said, “He shines under pressure. I expect nothing less from him this weekend.
"It’s gonna be won on the feet. That’s where I feel the fight’s going to be won. Look, he has a tough task ahead of him,
“I don’t think Islam’s gone past round three so there’s that. Everyone wants to be a champion until you gotta go five rounds and you gotta train for five rounds.
"I know they do their work, respect to their dynasty, but yeah, respect to our dynasty as well on this side of the world. They’re gonna find out.”
Volkanovski takes on Makhachev at the RAC Arena in Perth, Australia in the early hours of Sunday, February 12, 2023.
