Kamaru Usman has been called out for a mega fight against Belal Muhammad.
American mixed martial artist of Palestine descent Belal Muhammad is set to make his mark in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).
Muhammad has called out American professional mixed martial artist of Nigerian descent Kamarudeen Usman for a mega fight.
Usman recently suffered a majority decision loss to English professional mixed martial artist Leon Edwards in the main event of UFC 286 held at the 02 Arena in London.
The Nigerian nightmare dominated the UFC Welterweight division but following back-to-back defeats to Edwards faces a huge challenge to return to the top of the division.
Belal Muhammad vows to starch Kamaru Usman
After the fight between Edwards and Usman, UFC president Dana White revealed that American professional mixed martial artist Colby Covington is next to contend for the title.
Muhammad want to face welterweight champion Edwards as their first outing in the octagon was considered a no-contest due to an eye poke.
The Chicago man was last in action back in October 2020 when he produced a barrage of punches to knock out Sean Brady at UFC 280 held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
In an interview with Jesse on Fire, Muhammad explained that he wants Usman next.
He stated that he wanted a title shot against Edwards but since White already declared Covington the contender Usman is a massive fight to make.
He said, “Kamaru as champion, he beat Colby twice.
“I think that fight makes all the sense in the world. He was a guy that people considered the GOAT from the welterweight division.
"I go out there (and) starch him, beat him dominantly, there’s no denying me after that."
Muhammad believes victory against Usman will make him the number one contender in the welterweight division once Covington gets his shot at Edwards.
Muhammad then went on to charge Usman for a return to the octagon as soon as possible to make their fight at the same time Convington takes on Edwards.
He added, “That’s what I would hope for because I don’t think he really took any damage in that Leon fight – nothing but leg kicks and body kicks.
"And if Leon is making that quick turnaround in July, I don’t see why Usman can’t.”
Background
Cameroonian-French professional mixed martial artist Francis Ngannou and former UFC heavyweight champion expressed disappointment with Usman's performance against Edwards.

He wrote, "You are a champion with or without a piece of metal my brother.
"Your legacy is already cemented in the history of the sport. @USMAN84kg. We are always behind you."
Ngannou then analyzed the main event of UFC 286 stating that the fight against Edwards was close and Usman did not have enough time to train.
