Adesanya is taking no prisoners as he prepares for his rematch against Pereira.
New Zealand professional mixed martial artist of Nigerian descent Israel Mobolaji Adesanya has responded to taunting ahead of his return to the octagon.
The 33-year-old lost the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Middleweight title to Brazilian professional mixed martial artist Alexsandro Pereira last year.
Adesanya had previously lost twice to Pereira in two kickboxing tournaments back in 2015 and 2016 before their title fight in the UFC.
Adesanya on Pereira taunting
After the loss to Pereira at Madison Square Garden in New York Adesanya was complimentary of Pereira.
Pereira however since the rematch against Adesanya has been making some derogatory remarks about the first meeting.
In an interview with the Rock a radio station in his home country, Adesanya stated that he is not going along with Pereira's antics.
Speaking on Pereira's showing ahead of the rematch he said, “That was weird, bro. “You know what’s weird, though? For me, it’s like, I don’t really care.
"But, one reaction he gave, it panned to like some stuffed animals where he goes, ‘Ah’, and for me I’m like, ‘Who the f**k do you think you are?’
“Like I don’t look at him and go, ‘Why you wearing that f**king face paint and crying on the ground like you’re a tiger?’
“I don’t care, that’s what you want to do, that’s what you do. If that gives you power, that gives you power.
"But, the fact that he looks at me and the way I live my life? I wasn’t even doing nothing about him. I’m living my life and it upsets him.
“That’s very telling, that speaks a lot about him than it does about me. That was him showing his hand already, and I like that. I like that.
