Nigerian and American professional mixed martial artist Kamarudeen Usman continues his preparation for his return to the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).
Back in August 2022, Usman suffered a loss to English professional mixed martial artist Leon Edwards in Salt Lake City, Utah, United States of America (USA).
The 35-year-old Usman dominated the fight for four rounds and until the fifth round where Edwards produced a head kick knockout for the win.
Edwards became the welterweight champion after defeating Usman in the second face-off at UFC 278.
Usman prepares with Gaethje for Edwards
Since the defeat, Usman has stated that his knees have not been in good condition.
There were reports that a rematch could be postponed till the end of the year due to Usman's knee issues.
However, UFC President Dana White confirmed the fight between Usman and Edwards is next.
The fight between Usman and Edwards is set as the main event of UFC 286 scheduled for London, England.
Ahead of the fight against Edwaards, Usman has recruited some of the best in the UFC to bolster his preparation plans.
Usman was potted fighting with American professional mixed martial artist Justin Gaethje.
Usman posted photos of his session with Gaethje on his official social media platforms.
Along with the photos was a message by Usman that said, "AS IRON SHARPENS IRON, ONE MAN SHARPENS ANOTHER."
While Usman competes in the welterweight division, Gaethje competes in the Lightweight division.
Usmana and Gaethje will both be fighting on the UFC 286 edition card at the O2 Arena in London.
While Usman takes on Edwards for the third time, Gaethje battles against Azerbaijani professional mixed martial artist and Muay Thai fighter Rafael Fiziev.
Usman and Gaethje both return to the Octagon against Edwards and Fiziev respectively on Sunday, March 18, 2023.
