Rising motor rally star Kevin Bebeto is thrilled to have his rallying career finally get underway in earnest, following his debuting at the MOSAC Autocross event held in Gomba.

Bebeto, born to former rally driver Kaka Junior, the youngster got his first proper experience and taste of a mid-range race, behind his Toyota Run X in the season-opening Autocross event over the weekend.

The 17-year-old finished sixth overall in a competitive field that included seasoned drivers like Jonas Kansiime in the Mitsubishi Evo 8, Fred Kitaka in the Subaru Impreza and 2022 two-wheel drive champion Oscar Ntambi in the Toyota Alteza.

Bebeto says competing against strong men has given a proper picture of how fast he needs to get, while also giving him the courage that he can become a top driver in the country and continent.

“When I looked at Kansiime, Kitaka, Ntambi my heart pounded and I thought I was going to hit the car but after the first lap, I got courage,” Bebeto who was navigated by the experienced Musa Nsubuga said.

He adds that he will continue to participate in minor races this season to help him get more comfortable in his driving style, as he targets competing in the Clubman

Rally Championship when he turns 18 next season.

The MOSAC Gomba Autocross rally 2023, held at Julius Kavuma Kabenge’s track in Mabuye village in Gomba district was won by Kansiime in 09:01 in the 14.1km track distance.
