Nasser has made it clear that he will attempt to fight for three championships including the Africa Rally Championship, the Uganda National Rally Championship and in Tanzania.

Just days after completing the demanding 205-kilometre test at the Pearl of Africa Uganda Rally, Yasin Nasser will resume chase for another victory at the Mkwawa Rally in Iringa, Tanzania.

The rally hosted by Ahmed Huwel and Himid Mbatta will be the opening round of the Tanzania National Rally Championships (TNRC) on May 13-14.

Nasser has made it clear that he will attempt to fight for three championships including the Africa Rally Championship, the Uganda National Rally Championship and in Tanzania.

He has so far attempted two rallies on the Ugandan carlendar as well as both rounds of the ARC in Kenya and Uganda where he achieved his first ARC victory to move top of the standings.

“The event has been good generally despite the challenges we faced on Saturday. The focus was ARC points and we have it,” Nasser said.

“We would like to pass our appreciation to the organisers. Big thanks also go to our sponsors who make it happen.”

“For us there is no stopping for now, because we turn our attention to the rally in Iringa, because we have a commitment with our sponsors to attempt the Tanzanian championship.”

“We are looking forward to that as well, because it is a fresh challenge and another opportunity as well for us to gain more knowledge about the car and try different things,” he explained.

“As I have always said, we are still trying out different set ups, and also acclimatizing as a crew, so every rally is an opportunity for us

“The Pearl rally was well organized, but it tested us in a different way, and we are sure to face another different challenge in Tanzania,” Nasser continued.

Nasser looked to be cruising to victory at Pearl rally, as he had opened up a 36 second lead after three stages, but damage power steering saw him bleed over three minutes and losing his lead in stage six.

He would have to retire with a stage to run on day one, but returned for the final day, recovering from eighth overall to finish third overall as well as top the ARC category.

The victory helped him go top of the ARC standings on 54 points, eight points ahead of Jas Mangat.

Nasser will return to Tanzania in July for the fourth round of the ARC and the second round of the TNRC

This will be Nasser’s second attempt of the Mkwawa rally, but he returns this time as favourite with a more powerful car, than the Subaru Impreza GVB that he cruised to fourth place last year.
