“I am confident no one can touch me at the Gomba/Ssembabule rally,” Lwakataka affirmed.

This significant boost in Lwakataka's campaign comes after Plascon extended its support to the two-time National Rally Champion.

The rally star, acknowledging the support from Plascon presented his runners up titles to the company’sManaging Director Santosh Gumte after the Masaka Rally.

His way of consolidating his relationship with the company.

One name was surely at the tip of Lwakataka’s lips as he made the bold claim, 2023 National Rally Champion elect Yasin Nasser and his all conquering Ford Fiesta R5.

Nasser has beat Lwakataka twice since his return from a 14-month jail sentence on charges of criminal trespass and malicious damage to property.

The rally champion immediately plunged back into the competition after his release in May on a cash bail. His return though sweet, was dominated by Nasser’s victory in Hoima.

And in Lwakataka’s own backyard in Masaka, Nasser once again shone over him, to win the rally by 45 seconds, despite Lwakataka holding a 16 second advantage after the first day.

Not even the unfortunate spin from Nasser on the final section of the rally could swing a blessing towards Lwakataka’s way.

The victory not only got the MOIL Rally team crew victory in Masaka, but also saw Nasser tie Lwakataka on national titles, and the latter cannot wait for some sweet revenge.

“He beat me by 14 seconds in the previous rally,” Lwakataka mentioned.

“I was only coming out of jail. But I am very certain that in Gomba he will not be ahead of me at the end [of the rally].”

However, the season has not dampened Lwakataka's ambition and competitive spirit.

Acknowledging the missed title opportunity, Lwakataka said, “This season obviously we missed out on the title, and congratulations to the winner, but my competitive spirit has not waned.”

“I promise my fans, partners and sponsors that next season the chase resumes, but we are also targeting ending this season on a high with a couple of victories.”

“We shall go for broke in Gomba/Ssembabule, secure that victory and also come again in the final rally of the season in Fort Portal.”

While this year's National Rally Title might not be in the cards for Lwakataka, he remains focused on making a statement in the upcoming Gomba rally scheduled for 20-22 October, and it looks like the game is on.
