Ruto has made a rallying call to the private sector to help invest more into the WRC Safari Rally following the conclusion of the 2024 edition.
President William Ruto has extended an invitation to the private sector to take on a more significant role in the management of the WRC Safari Rally, emphasizing the potential for untapped opportunities and enhanced experiences.
Ruto made the call during the closing ceremony of the 2024 WRC Safari Rally held at Hell’s Gate in Nakuru County.
This year’s edition has been overshadowed by reports indicating that a couple of sponsors withdrew from sponsoring the event, as well as fights over supply tenders as well as reported eloping of sponsorship money.
This led to some high-profile resignations, including events director Jim Kahumbura, who was however reinstated following a crisis meeting with the President at State House.
Writing on his X- formerly Twitter - account, , he underscored the importance of private sector involvement in ensuring the cost-effectiveness of the rally while elevating the overall experience for participants and spectators alike.
“We invite the private sector to play a greater role in the management of the WRC Safari Rally and explore untapped opportunities.
“This will not only ensure that the event is cost-effective but also enhance the overall experience, making it truly magical,” Ruto stated.
