Yassin Nasser thrilled his fans after driving for 32 minutes 12.13 seconds to assume the lead after three stages of the rally.

The National Rally Championship table leader Yassin Nasser continued with his fine form after taking control of the Eastern Motorsport Club’s Jinja Rally on Day 1.

Nasser thrilled his fans after driving for 32 minutes 12.13 seconds to assume the lead after three stages of the rally.

The MOIL driver, who leads the table with 298 points, was boosted by his close challenge Duncan ‘Kikankane’ Mubiru’s fault after the latter’s Ford Fiesta developed mechanical problems in the first round of the super special stage.

Kikankane was taking on defending champion Byron Mugomoka when his car broke down.

Umar Dauda’s car failed to navigate the super special stage as well.

Nasser will have to keep his eye on holder Rugomoka and Ronald Ssebuguzi, who won the Jinja leg last year.

Rugomoka trails Nasser by 2 minutes and 14.72 seconds, while Sebuguzi is three minutes 21.16 seconds late.

The rally heads to the sugarcane plantations in Lwanda, Nsozi Biiri and Wandago on Sunday.
