Lisa Christofferson leads Talanta Hela's all-ladies team in the 2024 WRC Safari Rally Kenya.

Talanta Hela's all-ladies team, led by the indomitable Lisa Christofferson, is set to break new ground at this year’s WRC Safari Rally.

With the event kicking off Thursday, the team, under car number 110—a robust Subaru n10—aims to etch its name in the annals of this prestigious rally.

Speaking from the Service Park of the WRC Safari Rally Kenya in Naivasha, Christofferson shared the inspirational journey that led to the creation of Kenya's first all-women's safari rally team, the Lionesses.

The idea sparked in 2021 when Christofferson, invited by then Sports CS Amina Mohammed to watch the rally, noticed a glaring absence of women participants.

"This has never happened before," Christofferson proudly stated. The Lionesses team, which debuted in 2022, comprises eight female drivers and eight female navigators.

This year, the team has condensed to four drivers and four navigators, all driving under the Talanta Hela banner, ready to make history.

Christofferson sees this platform as a way to empower young women, encouraging them to take control of their lives and navigate their paths, even in male-dominated fields.

"We're here to empower young women to take charge of their lives by steering in the direction that you wanna go," she passionately explained.

Her journey to this point has been nothing short of remarkable. In 2006, Christofferson faced a life-threatening challenge when diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and given merely 10 days to live.

"I told the doctors, I am busy, I have places to go, people to see, children to raise, rallies to drive," she recounted.

Today, she stands strong, a survivor who is fitter and more determined than ever.

She is deeply invested in giving back to the community, particularly to children battling cancer, aiming to offer support and hope to those in need.

"Look out for us, Talanta Hela ladies," she calls out, acknowledging the support and belief from Waziri Ababu Namwamba and all those who stand behind them in this historic endeavor.
