Plascon Uganda has come to the team's aid with a Ugx 100m package aimed at helping them prepare better for the upcoming showpiece, according to Santosh Gumte, the General Manager of the leading paints manufacturers.

Money has always been a huge motivating factor in sport, even more for the She Cranes after they landed a sponsorship boost ahead of the Netball World Cup.

Plascon Uganda has come to the team's aid with a Ugx 100m package aimed at helping them prepare better for the upcoming showpiece, according to Santosh Gumte, the General Manager of the leading paints manufacturers.

"We're here to try and support sports in Uganda, we recently unveiled a kit for our rugby side Mongers and today we're here to give the She Cranes a package to help prepare for the World Cup," Santosh noted.

"This year, we declare a package of Ugx 100m which we hope will bolster the team's preparations; we believe in sports and women empowerment hence the support to the team."

Gumde also appreciated the team's efforts that have seen them qualify for three straight World Cup editions, stressing they have to be supported in every way possible, especially through Plascon's Twaake campaign.

"Plascon has had a good association with the She Cranes from last year; it's not easy to qualify for three straight World Cups; they need all our support," he noted.

"That's why we're also launching our Twaake campaign aimed at boosting the team's support before and during the tournament; we request everyone to tag along."

She Cranes head coach Fred Mugerwa was on hand to appreciate the timely sponsorship boost as he promised that the girls will do everything to perform well.

"A big thank you to Plascon for this timely support to the team; it will go a long way in ensuring our performance improves," Mugerwa noted.

"We had financial hiccups before residential training, but now we're ready; the team is well prepared, having played a few test matches, three against men's sides and two against schools.

"These will help add more physicality in the girls, so the morale is up there, and we're ready."

The She Cranes, who finished eighth and seventh, in 2015 and 2018, respectively, at their two World Cup appearances, are pooled in group D alongside Trinidad and Tobago, Singapore and New Zealand, with the tournament set to start on 28th July in Cape Town.
