NIC Netball Club and the Uganda Prisons Netball Club have stormed the semi-finals of the East Africa Club Championships in Nairobi, Kenya.

Prisons, the newly crowned Uganda Netball Super League champions and NIC, the title holders of the regional tournament, dominated in their respective groups, winning all four games.

The two giants could face off in a Ugandan grand finale if they negotiate past the semi-finals.

The Prisons will play against their Kenyan counterparts, Kenyan Prisons Netball Club, in the semi-finals.

Uganda Prisons coach Constant Ssebagala stated that they are focusing on their next game other than familiar rivals, NIC.

"The group was not easy, but, in a tournament, a team progresses in their momentum," Ssebagala said before adding.

"We didn't play well in the first game, but we have been improving in each game, winning with a bigger margin."

"NIC is a threat to us; we're not looking at them now. We're looking at the semi-finals first, and then we shall talk about the defending champions NIC."

Prisons' Asingo Viola goal defender is optimistic that they will progress past Kenya.

"The girls are focused and ready to win against Kenya Prisons in the semi-finals. They have managed to play well in their group, but the last whistle will decide," Asigo said.

The other women's team, debutants Makindye Weyonje, are in the playoffs.

Semi-finals are slated for Friday, and the grand finale is Sunday at the Ulinzi Sports Complex, Nairobi.
