It doesn't seem as though Sarah Babirye Kityo will walk away from the Uganda Netball Federation and serving the sport just soon.
Despite being out of office due to a directive from the Minister of Education and Sports Janet Museveni, the elected UNF President continues to serve Netball on behalf of the federation.
Babirye, on Friday, handed a Certificate of Appreciation to one of their partners Betpawa, for "making the She Cranes Send-off Dinner a success."
The She Cranes triumphed at the 2023 Netball World Cup in South Africa as they clinched fifth in the world and top-spot in Africa.
The Mess at the Top.
In May, Babirye was apprehended over falsification and misuse of federation funds, taken to prison and forced into leave from office by the First Lady.
Brigadier Flavia Byekwaso, was then appointed in the interim. The interim ought to have come at end of Babirye's leave.
However, in spite of the latter's return which came just in time for the Netball World Cup, Byekwaso stayed in office to-date.
Meanwhile, a large section at the Netball Federation still consider Babirye their legitimate President.
After the World Cup in Cape Town, the Netball Federation tweeted; "record making president, Hon. Babirye Kityo Sarah."
It should be noted that the latter still has about two years before her tenure in office elapses having been elected in June 2021.
She took over from Suzan Anek, who served for two terms till January 2021.
