11 secondary schools set for Badminton Shuttle Time in Nnewi

Shuttle Time is a project designed to provide children with a positive image of badminton through many opportunities to have fun, engage with others and experience success.

11 secondary schools and 13 physical education teachers have assembled in Nnewi, Anambra State, to promote an emerging community of players as part of international initiatives to develop fledgling badminton players code-named "Shuttle Time".

According to the Badminton World Federation, Shuttle Time, is a project designed to provide children with a positive image of badminton through many opportunities to have fun, engage with others, and experience success.

The Nnewi event is the second that the Badminton Federation of Nigeria (BFN) has approved in Nigeria.

The two-day training event, the second in the series in Nigeria after that of last month, held in Ilishan in Ikenne LGA of Ogun State, was powered by BFN partner Community Sport and Educational Development Initiative through the distribution of basic badminton equipment.

South-East representative on the BFN board, Oby Edoga-Solaja, commended the Badminton Section, Nnewi Sports Club, led by Ambassador Odi Nwosu and the acting chairman, Paul Ileka, for the cordial welcome and logistical support provided to the Shuttle Time trainers and BFN.

The training was conducted by the Shuttle Time Nigeria coordinator, Tajudeen Ayodele.

11 schools from Nnewi and the surrounding area attended the event. With the assistance of BFN partner CSED, the train travels to Edo, Delta, Kaduna, Bayelsa, and other states after two series of Shuttle Time Nigeria have been completed in Ilishan and Nnewi.
