Nigerian weightlifters have persisted in producing outstanding achievements in their pursuit of qualification for the Olympics in Paris in 2024.
At the ongoing 2023 Senior African Weightlifting Championship in Tunisia, which also acts as an Olympic 2024 qualification event, two weightlifters from Nigeria, Edidiong Umofia and Joy Eze Ogbonne, won six more medals on Tuesday.
Joy Eze, who competed in the women's 71 kg division, earned three silver medals in the Snatch, Clean & Jerk, and Total events.
Eze finished with three silver medals, just behind Egyptian Neama, who won the gold with a total lift of 227kg.
In order to win all three of the silver medals at the 2022 National Sports Festival, the gold medalist in the snatch lifted 102 kilograms, 125 kilograms, and 227 kilograms.

With a lift of 170 kilograms and 312 kilograms in the Clean & Jerk and Total events, respectively, Edidiong, who also won gold medals at the 2022 NSF, won silver with 142 kilograms and two bronze medals.
At the present Senior Africa Weightlifting Championship in Tunisia, Nigeria has earned a total of 12 medals.
