Egyptians were in a class of their own and they topped the medal table with a total of 189 medals, 101 gold medals, 46 silver medals, and 42 bronze medals.
They dominated most events and their hard work paid off well. Most of the athletes also wanted to qualify for the Olympic Games and they managed to hit the qualifying marks.

South Africa managed to complete the podium with 106 medals, bagging 32 gold medals, 32 silver medals, and 42 bronze medals. Other countries that complete the top five are Algeria with 114 medals (29 gold, 38 silver, and 47 bronze), and Tunisia with 87 medals (21 gold, 27 silver, and 39 bronze).
The host country Ghana is in sixth position in the final medal standings with 68 medals (19 gold, 29 silver, and 20 bronze).
Team Kenya came in 10th, after bagging a total of 35 medals, eight gold medals, even silver medals, and 20 bronze medals.
Emily Ngii, Mary Moraa, Beatrice Chepkoech, and Brian Komen led Kenya’s charge in winning gold medals with most of the medals coming from track and field.
However, history was also made by Winny Bii, who became the first woman to win a silver medal in the triple jump at the continental showpiece.
