The two-time African champion made history when she became the first Kenyan to win a Grand Slam title.

The 2022 Wimbledon Junior Doubles champion Angella Okutoyi is not resting on her laurels as she seeks to become the first Kenyan tennis player to make an appearance at the Olympic Games.

The two-time African champion made history when she became the first Kenyan to win a Grand Slam title and less than a year later, she has set her eyes on the Paris Olympic Games next year.

The 19-year-old noted that qualifying for the Olympic Games will be a life-changing moment for her since it will also help achieve her dream of being an Olympian and placing Kenya on the world map.

Olympic Games mean everything to me because since I was young, I used to hear people speak highly of the event and how it has changed people’s lives and changed the trajectory of their careers.

"Qualifying for the Olympics will be a dream come true for me…this will help me achieve my dreams in tennis and place Kenya on the global map.

"This will also make me the first Kenyan tennis player to be an Olympian,” the 19-year-old said.

She added that qualifying for the Olympics will be a source of inspiration to many other youngsters, proving that anything is possible.

Qualifying for the event will also help me show young Kenyans that how you begin your journey is not how you end it,” she added.
