Oilers put KCB in a sticky situation last season witha 24-17 thrashing.
Contemporary musician Kaligraph Jones is backing KCB RFC to change the narrative when they face Menengai Oilers in the Kenya Cup semifinal on Saturday, March 5, at the KCB Sports Club in Ruaraka.
Speaking in a video posted on the KCB official Twitter page, Jones wished the team a good outing. "I know you have a match on Saturday and I wish you all the best. We are together in this," he said.
At the 2021 Kenya Cup semifinal, KCB put up a good fight to win 35-17 over the Oilers. Tables turned at the 2022 semifinal when the Oilers knocked KCB out of the final by thrashing them 24-17 courtesy of Geoffrey Ominde who scored all the points from penalties.
KCB, however, seem to be on form having conceded only one match against champions Kabras Sugar where they lost 23-29 but bounced back to register a 49-5 win over Mean Machine on February 25.
In their match played against the Oilers on February 11, they won 62-15. They sit second on the table with 51 points, just a point away from the champions.
On the part, Oilers will be looking to make it to their successive second final after a successive finish last season which saw them take second place. However, they have lost four of their matches and seem to be on shaky ground.
Things won't be easy for them as they will also miss the services of two key players, Dennis Abukuse and John Okoth, as they are in the Shujaa squad for the Vancouver 7s.
In their match played against Blak Bad on January 14, they lost 16-17. Playing against Strathmore Leos on February 4 also saw them lose 21-25.
Their recent loss has been to Kabras where they lost 15-13 on February 25. The Oilers are third on the table with 37 points.
Coming from a loss, they might be charged up to change the narrative but it will not be an easy path for them.
