Victoria Azarenka supports and wears PSG shirt at the Australian Open for two reasons, and she's not going to stop anytime soon.
Two-time Australian Open Champion, Victoria Azarenka has revealed the reason behind wearing a PSG shirt before or after her matches at the 2023 Australian Open, is because of her son.
Azarenka has worn the kit since the tournament began and has explained the fashion choice was down to her 7-year-old son, Leo. She also revealed she has been a PSG supporter since 2012, when David Beckham joined the club.
"He saw me wearing the shirt; he will wear the shirt so we're matching," she told the WTA's website.
The 33-year-old kept her bid for a third Australian Open title alive by beating in-form player Jessica Pegula in straight sets of 6-4 6-1 in their quarterfinal match. She then donned the jersey of the Ligue 1 giants post-match and in her press interviews.
While his mum is a multiple Grand Slam winner, Leo appears more inclined to pursue a career in football than follow Azarenka on the tennis court.
"He wants to play at Paris Saint-Germain. That's his dream,' the Belarusian continued.
"I'm a soccer mum now and I love that,' she added. "I love supporting. I'm obnoxious, like absolutely the most obnoxious. I yell, but I'm very positive.
"I'm actually very proud because it's a completely different emotion for me to support my son. I have no shame screaming for him, like zero,' she concluded.
Azarenka will face Elena Rybakina in the semifinals - a match which has thrown tennis fans and pundits into ecstasy on it being an epic clash.
