The South-West Badminton Outreach, in conjunction with the Badminton Federation of Nigeria (BFN), is set to hold a grassroots badminton outreach for secondary school students in Ogun.
The outreach is powered by the Community Sports and Educational Development (CSED) initiative.
Secondary schools in Ikenne Local Government Area in Ogun State will feature in grassroots badminton outreach on Wednesday and Thursday at Ilisan Community Town Hall.
The outreach in Ikenne Local Government is mostly for secondary school physical education (PE) teachers and a select group of students.

The CSED Project will also provide the participating schools with equipment, such as rackets, nets, and shuttlecocks.
The outreach program seeks to give students the opportunity to develop an interest in and the fundamental abilities and methods required for the game of badminton, as well as to provide a platform for the discovery of truly young talents.
Nigeria’s Anu Opeyori retains Africa’s Badminton championship
Pulse Sports reports that Nigeria’s number one badminton player, Anuoluwa Opeyori, won the African Championship.
He won his fourth African title in a space of five years to assert himself as Africa’s undisputable champion.
His triumph was in South Africa, where he defeated Mauritius Julien Paul to win the men's singles gold medal at the All Africa Senior Championships. The score was 18-21, 21-13, and 21-18.
Opeyori has added to earlier titles won in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, in 2019 and Kampala, Uganda, in 2022.

Opeyori started the individual event by easily defeating Zimbabwe's Trinity Chimpumho, 21-8, 21-9. Next to succumb to his firepower was homeboy, Ruan Snyman, who also fell in two straight sets of 21-11 and 21-16 at the Round of 16.
