The head of the UNF’s Referee's commission, Rosette Kaala, has emphasized the importance of analyzing each referee's performance and correcting mistakes while rewarding good performances with points.

The Uganda Netball Federation has revealed its plans to improve the quality of officiation in the Netball Super League as the competition prepares to resume in March.

This comes after several clubs complained about the standard of refereeing, which raised concerns about the integrity of the league.

To address these issues, the Uganda Netball Federation has been educating its match officials on the new rules and providing refresher courses on those they may have forgotten.

The head of the UNF’s Referee's commission, Rosette Kaala, has emphasized the importance of analyzing each referee's performance and correcting mistakes while rewarding good performances with points.

Referees who fail to improve their performance despite receiving low marks will be suspended. The commission is also open to feedback from club managers about certain referees.

“Giving points to each referee after refereeing the match I know will encourage them to work harder,” Kaala told the media.

“Whoever fails to change his performance after being given low marks will be suspended and improve himself,” Kaala stressed.

The 2022/23 Netball Super League was suspended in January after two match days into the second round due to unforeseen circumstances.

However, the Uganda Netball Federation has now confirmed that the league will resume on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, with five games scheduled to take place at Luzira.

Weyonje gets the action underway against Posta in the morning, followed by Africa Revival University clash with UCU before Posta returns to face Met Life in the afternoon.

Africa Revival University then plays its second game of the day against NIC before UCU face off with Met Life in the final game of the day.

According to the revised fixture, the league will now end on April 29, 2023, and the new season, 2023/24, will start on June 3, 2023.

Prisons and KCCA currently occupy the top spot in the league table with 24 points each, with KCCA having played two games less.
