Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz set for an epic clash in the semifinals of the ongoing Indian Wells.
Jannik Sinner's fairytale run at the Indian Wells continued in his quarterfinal match against Taylor Fritz by defeating the defending champion 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 to advance to the semifinals.
By doing this, Sinner became the first Italian player in history to reach the quarterfinals and the semifinals of the Indian Wells. It is also his second top-5 win of 2023 and the first Italian to make multiple ATP Masters 1000 semifinals on a hard court.
Sinner’s forehand was pure fire, as he defeated Fritz with an 8.9 shot quality on the forehand.
The young Italian will face World No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz in the semifinal, who defeated Felix Auger-Aliassime to reach the last four for the second consecutive year.
Tiafoe and Medvedev face off in second semifinal match
Meanwhile in the second semifinal, Frances Tiafoe will play Daniil Medvedev, after the American played great to beat 2021 champion Cameron Norrie in straight sets of 6-4, 6-4 to advance to his first Indian Wells semifinal.
Medvedev on the other hand defeated Davidovich Fokina 6-3, 7-5 to qualify for his first Indian Wells semifinals, extending his consecutive wins to eighteen matches and counting.
