Kanbis A will host Swamibapa A in a grudge match which they cannot afford to lose considering in their last encounter, they were defeated by 9 runs.

Leaders Ruaraka A are getting closer to clinching the coveted Nairobi Provincial Cricket Association (NPCA) Super Division 50-Overs League title with only three matches to spare but the dynamics of the title chase could be intricate.

This will come about if stray Lions A and Kanbis A lose and Ruaraka beat Shree Cutch Leva Patel Samaj (SCLPS YL A) this Sunday. They will have already attained enough points that are enough to win the title on Matchday 12.

However, if Ruaraka wins as well as Kanbis and Lions, the only other way for the Thika Road side to lose the title would be through the Net Run Rate (NRR) rule.

In that case, Ruaraka would have attained the 44-point mark with two matches left, considering that Kanbis and Stray Lions would only manage a maximum of 44 should any of them win the last three.

Kanbis A will host Swamibapa A in a grudge match which they cannot afford to lose considering in their last encounter, they went down with a fight where they were defeated by 9 runs.

This time around, Kanbis will bank on experience from run-hungry skipper Dhiren Gondaria and on form Rakep Patel. Kanbis has not lost any home game this season at home.

Kanbis skipper Dhiren Gondaria commented: “This weekend’s match is part of a must three games to be won to have a chance of retaining the title.

Coming to Swamibapa, I think it’s a top side in the league, we must have a hard time facing them but we are confident that we still have a chance with the extra batter adding to strengthen our batting lineup more- deeper.”

Stray Lions A on the other side will be looking to delay the celebrations of Ruaraka when they host Sikh Union A at Nairobi Jaffrey’s. Obuya A and Gymkhana A face off in the battle of the bottom two sides and both will be looking for a victory for a respectable finish in the league.
