Kenya has won the Africa Kabaddi 2024 Championship, securing their return to the Kabaddi World Cup with a dominant performance.
Kenya emerged victorious in the Africa Kabaddi 2024 Championship on Saturday, defeating Uganda with a decisive 44-23 score in the final match held at Kasarani. This win not only crowns them as champions but also secures their spot in the upcoming Kabaddi World Cup.
The Kenyan team set the tone early in the match with James Kamweti leading a series of successful raids into the Ugandan half, establishing a solid lead of 20-13 by halftime.
The team continued to dominate in the second half, adding an impressive 24 points to their tally, while Uganda managed to score only 10 more points.
Kenya’s defense was particularly noteworthy as proved to be an insurmountable barrier for the Ugandan raiders, with the hosts covers executing superb tackles.
"Our defense strategy was key to keeping the Ugandans at bay. Every player executed their role with precision, and it paid off," remarked David Silishia, Kenya’s captain as per Citizen Digital.
Silishia also shared his thoughts on the team's aspirations looking forward.

James Kamweti, named man of the match for his outstanding performance, expressed his confidence in the team's abilities and their status in African Kabaddi.

Samuel Wafula, who was named the best defender of the tournament, played a crucial role in Kenya's defensive success.
His performance throughout the tournament highlighted his skills and strategic play, contributing significantly to Kenya's championship win.
Kenya's recent triumph adds to their impressive track record in Kabaddi, following their bronze medal win at the Bangabandhu Cup in Bangladesh.
