VOLLEYBALL Kenya Pipeline intensify preparations ahead of African Clubs Championships

Kenya Pipeline will be joined by KCB who will be seeking to defend their title.

Kenya Pipeline volleyball club are preparing adequately for the African Clubs Championships set for Saturday, May 13 to 26 in Tunisia.

They began their residential training on Monday, May 1 at the Kenya Ports Authority Makande Hall in Mombasa. Head coach Paul Gitau selected a group of 19 players but will whittle the number to 14 at the end of the week for the continental assignment.

The Oilers will be looking to improve on their third-place finish during the previous edition also staged in Tunisia. The event saw compatriots KCB take the top honours as Al Ahly of Egypt settled for second place.

The defending national champions have had a great start to the season, currently unbeaten and were also in impressive form during the Paul Bitok National Tournament.

In the first leg of the national league, they thrashed Nairobi Prisons in straight sets before defeating Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) 3-1. The second leg also saw them secure big wins over Nairobi Water (3-0) and Kenya Army (3-0).
