Club Chairperson Evelyne Adhiambo has sighted a lack of finances as a major challenge.

The event is scheduled for April 1 and 2 at the Kisumu Day High School and will be used to curtain raise the 2023 KHU Hockey Season.

Adhiambo also noted that so far, she is yet to receive any updates from the treasurer but is hopeful teams will start registering as soon as possible.
“So far, things are looking up and I’m optimistic teams will sign up. We are psyched up to host the event,” Adhiambo told Pulse Sports.
The outgoing St. Mary’s Anding’o Girls Secondary School Hockey (three-time Homa Bay County champions) captain lamented that the lack of sponsors for the event had forced them to dig deep into their pockets.
She noted that they were relying on the private sector for support but so far, they have only received feedback from one company.

“We have had to raise the funds among ourselves and it has not been easy with this economic state of our country. Finances remain our major challenge but we have to host the event either way,” she said.
She also sighted the poor weather conditions as a threat to them hosting the event but added that they are optimistic all will be well on the D-day.
