The organisers have revealed that they will double the prize money from last year's token which was KSh1.5 million.

Organisers of the 2023 Mr. and Miss East Africa natural bodybuilding contest are planning to host a bigger event as compared to last year which only attracted 200 athletes.

The organisers have promised a thrilling show as they seek to have more than 400 participants from across Africa gracing the event.

The event, which is scheduled for Sunday, October 8 in Eldoret, will also see three new categories added including classic physique, masters, and the special category.

“This year, we want to give more athletes an opportunity to showcase their talents and we have also included three more categories,” Rupaz fitness center general manager Nebert Shiveka said.

The organisers also revealed that they are keen to double the prize money from last year’s token which was Ksh1.5 million. They called upon the government and other stakeholders to come in and support the event.

“Last year’s prize money was 1.5 million but this year we intend to double it. The more we get partners chipping in, we shall be able to increase the money to even 5 million,” he said.

It was also confirmed that distinguished bodybuilding coach Robert Phil from the United Kingdom who was the lead judge during last year’s edition will also be returning.

Meanwhile, the Uasin Gishu county chief officer of clinical services Paul Ongeti revealed that they will be keen to use the event as a platform to create awareness of mental health.

“Our hope is that we shall be able to discuss mental health and we will use this event as an avenue. We want to encourage people to ensure they maintain physical fitness as well as mental health,” he said.
